The sheer scale of the city is unbelieveable. With 25 million inhabitants, flying in there was urban sprawl as far as the eye could see. Fortunately I was able to walk to most of the places of interest or take the underground.I expected it to be a bit of a dump being so big but it was a surprisingly nice place. I took a tour one day to see a few places in the city, learning some history about the place which was very interesting (the city was originally an island at the centre of a huge lake which dried up once the spanish invaded because they were intent on destroying everything the Aztecs had constructed, including their system of dams keeping the water levels up). Having stopped at a place to eat cactus for lunch and tried various different sorts of Tequila, we then went to the pyramids of Teotiahuacan (formerlythe largest city in the world sometime in the first millenium) which were very impressive. So not a bad start to round two but it´ll be nice to get out of such a huge city." Read and see more at: www.travelpod.com Photos from this trip: Zocalo Palacio de Bellas Artes Castillo de...
