See this TripWow and more at tripwow.tripadvisor.com Tour of First Love Kenya and the Slums Today, we worked only until 11 am. Then, after lunch, got on the bus and drove to Kibera. Kibera is near the center of Nairobi. It is about 100 years old. It is about 600 acres, or 1 square mile. There are between 1 and 1.5 million people living here. We took some pictures, but as we walked thru the slums, we were told not to take pictures because it will make them angry and possible retalliation. We started by visitinga school, on the edge of the slums, where Tom and Linda Clinton have set up a school, for kids from the slum. The school and the lunch room are completely staffed by Kenyans. Our church helps supports the Clinton's work. 1000 kids are in the school, and they are provided a breakfast and lunch. Thebowls in front of each kid, contained corn with some sort of sauce. The kitchen was pretty crude. Cooking was done outside on fire pits. Corn was laying on a mat drying in the sun. More of the kids. After visiting the slums, we got on the bus and headed to a new orphanage that the Clintons have been building. It is still under construction but 22 orphans (girls) are already there.
