life after

So I was sick–very sick. Shelly played mommy and took care of me well. We became bums on the kibbutz for a while and really got to know the kibbutzniks. For those of you who don’t know, Shelly Farahan is my really good friend from Indiana University who I am continuing my Israel trip with and who you will hear a lot about in the future because we have been together 24/7 and it has been a blast. Her brother is what they call a ’lonely soldier’ which means he made aaliyah and joined the army but his parents aren’t…

Life after Birthright.... May 28 - June 1 So I was sick--very sick. Shelly played mommy and took care of me well. We became bums on the kibbutz for a while and really got to know the kibbutzniks. For those of you who don't know, Shelly Farahan is my really good friend from Indiana University who I am continuing my Israel trip with and who you will hear a lot about in the future because we have been together 24/7 and it has been a blast. Her brother is what they call a 'lonely soldier' which means he made aaliyah…

So I've only put up a few photos so far. Just wanted to give an overview. I'll explain some of them below: This is my piece of paper in the Western Wall. Mine is the big white piece to the left of all of the mushed yellow pieces near the right of the frame.     Me in one of the old synagogues in Jerusalem. This was the day I started to feel sick so I wasn't looking so hot. Anyway, these old synagogues are beautiful and so rich with history. The next picture is of part of the floor…

I realize it has been an enormous amount of time since I have last written. I apologize for my negligence. I rarely get to a computer and when I do, I find myself checking emails and then off to do the next best thing. I guess I have been living life more than writing about it, which no one can hold against me. Now, I've finally found some time to write. Here goes... Birthright trip continued... Monday May 22, 2006 After a night of dancing it up in the Bedouin tent, we wake up at 3:30 in the morning to…

ISRAEL – Israel 4

Apparently you can't see my photos unless I put them in a blog so I'm adding these pictures just for your viewing pleasure. I think this is in Safat but I honestly can't remember. The days are all mushing together. I think it is so cool how these people live, though. someone's balcony is someone else's roof...because they have to scale the houses up the mountains. It is very interesting architecture. Western Wall... For those of you who don't know, the Western wall has a big divider and the men can go on one side and the women on the…
