Today we are heading out of Roundstone and away from Errisbeg Lodge. We are headed to our next B&B, Glebe House in Mohill, Co. Leitrim. But we have many stops to make before we get there, the first being Kylemore Abbey. It is an amazing building, absolutely beautiful from the outside. The water is still, and we get some pretty cool reflection pics there. Inside, the Abbey is restored, but only a small portion is open to the public, since it is still used as a Benedictine Abbey and as a boarding school. The grounds are impressive, though, and the Neo-Gothic church and masoleum are both very cool. The “midgees” are out today, and are horrible. They are the Irish version of a “noseeum”- and bite just the same.Weare covered in midgee bites by the time we leave, and we decide to forego the gardens in light of the recent attacks. The gift shop, though, requires a stop, and out of all the gift shops we saw during the trip, this one was my “don’t miss”. Lots of local pottery, lace, chocolate, crystal, pewter, jewelrey, and kitchy, silly items as well. Something for everyone.
