Hello Everyone,
I am attempting to set up a travel blog this evening so you can follow along on our bikes without pedaling! I’ll post the planned itinerary (carefully researched by Fred) as a way to test out if I did this blog right. We’ll attempt to add a map of Austria, northern Italy, Slovenia and Croatia to locate these smaller cities and towns. Things may change depending on the weather, the incline, the legs, and just because we discovered something else we’d like to see or do. Venice is supposed to be on this list….for example.
Departure is May 2.
Fred and I will converge in Schiphol, Amsterdam on May 3 within 50 minutes of each other if our flights are on time. Fred has spent endless hours redesigning the bike suitcases so they will offer better protection to the wheels….let’s hope all is well when they arrive. After that we take the train to Sjoeky and Rien’s place for 2 overnights with them while Fred adds some additional equipment available in the Netherlands to the bikes.
May 5
We take the train to Koln, Germany and then fly to Klagenfurt, Austria. After that, it’s pedal power unless the alps get too steep or the legs give out.
Here’s the planned route: KlagenfurtVillach Sillian Brunico Bressaone San Candido Cortina D’Ampezzo Marmolada Pieve di Cadore Villach (by train) Klagenfurt Volkermarkt Maribor Ptuj Rogaska Slatino Brezice Novo Mesto Ljubljana (by train) Logatec (by train) Idrija Bovec Kranjska Gora Bled Skofja Loka May 19 Ljubljana May 20 Rijeka (by train) May 20 -27 (various Dalmatian Islands by boat) May 28 back to Koln (by plane),Sneek (by train) May 29 – the Elf Steeden Togt (Eleven City Tour) in Friesland May 30 – June 5 – local touring based in Sneek with Tante Haike June 5 Amsterdam (by train) Ottawa (by plane)
Can you let me know if you received your notification of this posting , please? I am finding that hotmail works better than sympatico so I think I’ll use it instead:
Cheers,
Grace and Fred

Hi Grace,
I got the email from pink… whatever. I clicked in on the travel blog and voila…. I’m quite impressed by the maps and intrigued by the sounds of the towns and villages. Love the ‘pedal power’ caption. Ciao Penny
