Zócalo. One of the most popular spots to take in a lot of sightseeing in Mexico is a place that is known as Zócalo, which means “base”. Being that it’s one of the world’s largest city squares, that alone makes it a place that garners a lot of attention. From the ceremonial center called Teocalli to Palacio Nacional (the presidential palace) and all of the jewelry shops and luxury hotels in that area, you definitely cannot leave Mexico without spending at least a day there.

Templo Mayor Museum. If you’re a big fan of museums, then you’ve got to put Templo Mayor Museum on your itinerary. There you will find two religious temples that were erected in honor of god of war and the god of rain. Plus, there are also lots of pyramids, shrines and serpent carvings for you to view. In fact, it’s so elaborate that the Templo Major Museum is a part of the UNESCO’s World Heritage Site.

Chichen Itza. The Chichen Itza literally translates into “at the mouth of the well of Itza” and is currently the second most-visited archaeological site in all of Mexico. One of the main reasons why is because it houses what’s considered to be the one of the seven great wonders of the world: the Kukulkan Pyramid. It also features many other things that help tourists to better understand the history of the Mayan Culture.

Mayan Ruins of Coba. It is an archaeological site that has only been open to the public since 1973. Basically it’s a collection of several different sites that are all connected to one large pyramid.
